Arts or the environment?

If there's a company considering giving money to support the arts or to protect the environment, in my opinion, I would suggest to use the money on the environment.

There's nothing wrong if any of you just choose the opposite. Art is also an important part of our life. It's something that can cultivate our mind. But comparing with the environment, I'll put environment in the front.

We have only one earth. Everyone knows that. And I think everyone will agree that we human beings has been destroying the environment for a long time. It was thought that the earth was big enough to digest those pollutants. The truth is, our earth is slowly striking back.

Aberrant climate brings natural disasters. Ecological changes reveals the possibility of our future. We finally found out of that but how hard we worked gains little rewards. The long term destruction is not easy to recover. The great earth has been damaged very deeply and the worst is, humen are still producing pollutants.

It is probably inevitable. So, the only thing we can do is try our best to reduce the amount of pollutants, and decrease pollution range. Little by little, then maybe the protected environment will be safe enough for us to live. There's no time to wait because pollution and damaging is happening instantly in every part our our planet. In that consideration, I would suggest to protect the environment first.

Out of the Earth

A view from out of our planet. Even though the invention of space shuttle was something in the last centry. Astronauts are still a profession that seems far away. Seeing these astronauts on their extravehicular mission on the International Space Station always reminds me that the ourter space is totally a different world from where we live. Even to just image how big is our planet makes me some kind of fear, with reverence in it. In the background is of course part of our earth. Beautiful as usual. If possible I really wish one day I could have a chance to look at our earth from the ourter space.

Why art

Art usually gives an impression of 'hard to understand'. But the worlds' famous museums are always full with travelers. It's nothing special for people who are interested in art to visit those places. But not everyone is like that.

Although I'm one of those who think of art as 'hard to understand'. I may still put museums in my visit list if there's a chance to travel. In my first thought, the reason people visit those places is because its famous. Although I do not know what those are all about, there might be something special since it's a famous spot. And those popular sights can get more attention from the manager(like the government). So at least the surrounding will not be too bad.

If to think deeply, although we may not know the artists special personal style, which is, we do not know what to look at. But artworks are also the reflection, and concentration of the local culture. You don't have to stay there for days or months or walk around to really see what there life looks like. The artworks will tell you.

If you say the famous artworks can already be seen in books, on TV, on the internet, or you already have a copy at home. But a REAL one still feels different from a fake one. Even though we can not tell the difference. The feeling is different(And the price is also very different.)

Another benefit may be that you'll get new topics to talk about the next time you meet others. You can happily share your experiences with each other and keep the conversation goes on. No matter what the reasons are, people will continue to visit those museums.

Traveling alone or in a tour group?

Although I'm not a one who travels alot, I do like travel. I'm used to staying at home. But if there's a chance to look around that would also be a good experience. People travel in two ways. Alone or join a tour group. For me, I would prefer traveling in a group.

The first reason is because joining the tour group, the tour company will do the annoying works for you. Get your tickets done, look for the spotlights you're going to see, and find the eating and sleeping places. Probably the only thing you have to do is to make sure the tour company is trustable. We don't always have time for those preparing work. At this point, traveling in a tour group will be better.

Secondly, when you're traveling with a group you are having someone who can share the same experience with you. Even though you do not know each other before, at least you're a little more closer than the other strangers out there.

One thing that's also very important is your safty. Traveling in a group will be safer than you go by yourself. For those planing to do bad things, a person alone is always easier than a group of people. If you are alone and get in some trouble, who will know that and give you a hand. But with a group of people they might be the one(or at lease the tour company)to help.

As a conclusion. I would agree that traveling alone or in a tour group both has its adventages. But for people like me, I prefer traveling in a tour group.

Computers

Computers were invented within just hundreds of years. But they had become an essential part of our life. Because of some powerful functions, they are being used in many different ways.

When we think of computers, the first to mention is its fast calculating speed and large storage capacity. We are able to open many windows and do different works at the same time. Unlike human, computers get everything done easily and never get confused. Then computers will store the information we type in for as long as possible. The problem of memory loss will not be seen. Those thoughts are turned into real data. Then with a few clicks you can see the oldest document you create long ago. If short of storage capacity, you just need to buy more hard discs. Everything is so convenient.

Besides hardware advantages, software in the computers have more closely relation with us. Different software gives computers different usage for people in all fields. Take we students for example. The searching function must be the most important. For doing reports or teachers offer of looking for more information, the internet is always a must.

Another remarkable usage of computers is its entertainment function. For young adults chatting on the computer may be more popular than using the phone. It costs less, which is the most important. And it gives us more possibility to know people from other countries. Internet is just like how we write it – the net-like linkage connects different societies together and shortened the distance between us. Other entertainment usage of computers are something like watching movies, listening to music, and of course playing games.

We are very used to have computers with us. Many people may have their computer turned on all day long. And as a matter of course, there will be long hours of using it. The using of this powerful machine has kind of become an addiction but it just seems that you can't ignore it.....

Introduction - About Me

My name is Ho Meng-Chin, a student of Chung Shan Medical University. People at this age may be very energetic. But if there are 99% of energetic people, then I might be the last 1% who is very quiet. How quiet? For example when I'm having lunch with friends (you know during lunch time people usually have some conversations), then you'll find me always listening. Not because people won't let me talk. I just feel more ease to be a listener than a speaker. Maybe my habit has some responsibility. I like to watch TV. From elementary to high school that's my everyday work. While we watch TV we're receiving information but not thinking or creating. To growing kid if you just let them receiving but not giving then one day you'll find them forget how to give.

...Ok, I admit it's a strange example. And the paragraph above is just my excuse of being so quiet. But that's what comes into my mind when teacher talked about "talking and writing are more difficult in learning a language" I felt something familiar with those TV times… Now being a college student, far away from home, I do not have that much program to watch. But I still prefer staying at home than going out. I have to say being quiet has become part of my personality.

(I just found that I have to write something like goals of the class and my life (I thought they are two different articles…) so this "about me" is not finished yet.
